Hi. I’m Alex.

And This Is the Story of How I Found My Human , and Why I’m Moving to Portugal With him

Hi.
My name is Alex.

In 2021, my human saw my photo on Instagram.

Before that day, she was afraid of dogs.
She used to change sidewalks when she saw one coming.

So… yes.
I know.
I wasn’t exactly part of her plan.

But something happened when she saw me.

And from that moment on, nothing stayed the same , especially her.

When I First Came Home, She Was Scared

When I arrived, I could feel it.

She was careful.
A little distant.
Unsure.

So I waited.

I didn’t rush her.
I didn’t push.
I just stayed close and loved her quietly.

Sometimes love means patience.
And I had plenty of that.

I Stayed When Life Fell Apart

Then something very hard happened.

My human lost her mother.

The house felt heavier.
The silence felt deeper.
She was changing , and so was I.

She didn’t always want to talk.
Sometimes she just sat there.

So I stayed.
I lay next to her.
I loved her without questions.

That’s when she learned something important:

What unconditional love really means.

Six Months Later, We Became a Team

About six months after I came home, we stopped being careful around each other.

We became inseparable.

We traveled together.
We slept side by side.
We shared everything.

She stopped worrying so much.
Dog hair didn’t bother her anymore.
Neither did messy rugs or muddy paws.

She became calmer.

I think… I helped.

Then I Got a Sister

My human surprised herself again.

She was so brave by then that she decided I shouldn’t be alone when they were gone.

So she adopted my sister Judy , from the same shelter.

We understood each other right away.
Now we’re a team too.

And the house?
It’s louder.
Happier.
Full.

When Humans Move, Dogs Move Too

About eight months ago, my humans made a big decision.

We’re moving to Portugal.

And there was never a question about us.

From the very beginning, they started preparing our documents, our vaccinations, our papers.

Everything they learned, they wrote down here so other families wouldn’t feel lost:

I Know She’s Scared About the Flight

We had two choices:

  • Go by car

  • Fly

Right now, flying is the only option.

And yes… my human is scared.

It’s her first time.
She doesn’t know how it will feel.
She worries.

But I know something she sometimes forgets:

She didn’t leave me behind once.
She never will.

Love Means Going Together

I didn’t choose my human.

She chose me.

And that choice changed both of our lives.

So when we move to Portugal, we’re not just changing countries.

We’re moving as a family.

Wherever she goes next —
me and Judy go too.

Always.
